A virus secretly developed by the government to reanimate the dead is spread to a small town in Nebraska. An infected soldier spreads it to a strip club, putting Kat (Jenna Jameson) and the other beautiful dancers who perform there in serious danger.
Jay Lee (The Slaughter, House with 100 Eyes, Area 407: Part Two) writes and directs with simplicity a delightful demented horror comedy in which zombies, gunfights, blood and sexy strippers are the components of a well-executed mixture. The highly polished cinematography, excellent make-up and surprising special effects imbue this film with a bloody charm, in which there is no lack of either quotations (Planet Terror, From Dusk to Dawn, The Night Warriors) or even interesting ideas (face-dancing, the throwing of marbles...). A negative point, however, goes to the screenplay: the central part of the film, which is more monotonous and terse, is tarted up by continuous dancing of the zombified strippers (and their modus operandi with the audience) which, in the long run, risk becoming a bit monotonous precisely because it is repetitive.
In the cast of Zombie Strippers (USA - 2008) shines Jenna Jameson (former queen of hard cinema), well cast in the part of a zombie stripper and pleasantly self-deprecating as she does not care to see her beautiful body turned into that of a repulsive zombie. In addition to her, it is impossible not to mention horror icon Robert Englund, who had a similar part in Dance of the Dead, episode of the first season of the Masters of Horror.
Although it is not without flaws, Zombie Strippers, just like a wholesome and enjoyable demented horror film, ensures fun thanks to a massive dose of comedy and unforgettable splatter/gore scenes (emasculation, quartering, severed and blown-off heads). Credit to Jay Lee who managed to direct it without overdoing it.
Jenna Jameson and Robert Engund are also joined by Roxy Saint, Penny Vital, Whitney Anderson, Jennifer Holland, Shamron Moore, Jeannette Sousa, Carmit Levité, Johnny Hawkes, Brad Milne and Zak Kilberg.
