don't-say-soIn a small village in Lucania, three children are mysteriously killed. A journalist, coincidentally on the spot, begins to investigate. Suspected are a kind of sorceress who practices strange rituals and a rich city lady, vacationing in the village...
While the locals will mete out summary justice by slaughtering the "sorceress," the journalist and the tourist become involved in the investigation within a religious community, in which a priest cares for the local youth...
The solution revolves around a duck-like puppet found near a murder...
Fulci's third excursion into the giallo after Una sull'altra and Una lucertola con la pelle di donna.
You Don't Have to Tase a Donald Duck is a deep and personal detective story that the production, riding the wave of Argentian zoonomic titling, improperly wanted to queue up with the mystery series of the era.
In reality, Fulci's film, shot with class and with a strongly rational and well-structured story (the work of Clerici, Gianviti and Fulci), shows a rural (and peripheral) Sicily characterized by omertà and prejudice. Singular, in this regard, is the figure of Bolkan, naively and erroneously seen as the cause of the country's ills, and for that reason condemned by her own people...
In contrast to a sunny and joyful setting, a sick and distorted mind fulfills its personal preventive "duty" to rid the youth of all guilt by killing them before they can be guilty...
Great performances by Tomas Milian, Barbara Bouchet, Florinda Bolkan and Marc Porel...
One of Fulci's best gialli, worthy of rediscovery and which, at the time, did not have the deserved success it has achieved over time...
