XX is the title of a female-driven horror anthology consisting of four episodes, each of which will be directed and starred exclusively by a woman. The directors of the four segments are Karyn Kusama (Jennifer's Body, The Invitation), Jennifer Lynch (Boxing Helena, Surveillance) and Jovanka Vuckovic (Self Portrait, The Guest). Mary Harron (American Psycho) dropped out of the project and was replaced by American singer-songwriter Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, here making her directorial debut.
St. Vincent co-wrote the script for his segment with Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound, V/H/S, V/H/S/2), who also handled the production of the episode whose filming will begin this spring.
Producers of the anthology include Travis Steven (Starry Eyes).
The film, tagged "Four Deadly Tales by Four Killer Women," is in pre-production and currently only the titles of two episodes are known: "Her Only Living Son" and "The Box."
