New film about lycanthropy this time from Denmark. It is about. When Animals dream (Når dyrene drømmer) by Danish director Jonas Arnby here on his first horror feature film after a couple of shorts in other genres.
The original language trailer that you can find below has been circulating on the net for a few days.
The protagonist of this story is Marie (Sonia Suhl), a 16-year-old girl who lives with her father and sick mother on a Danish island. The girl is a werewolf and appears to be responsible for the brutal murders on the place, which is why people begin to fear her and her family. The father is aware of his daughter's "illness" and tries hard to curb her animalistic impulses.
The plot is reminiscent of Let Me In (Låt den rätte komma in), a Swedish film directed by Tomas Alfredson, which, however, deals with the theme of vampirism. Indeed, in Arnby's film work we find the little girl, in this case a werewolf, and the male figure who lives alongside her.
From the trailer, it looks like a promising film, and one hopes to witness excellent transformations under the sign of the full moon.
The film is directed by Jonas Alexander Arnby and Lars Mikkelsen while Rasmus Birch handled the screenplay. Production is by Caroline Schlüter Bingestam and Ditte Milsted.
Actors in addition to Sonia Suhl include Lars Mikkelsen, Jakob Oftebro, Sonja Richter, Mads Riisom, and Esben Dalgaard.
When Animals Dream is currently in post-production and will be released on July 31 in Denmark.
