Sarah (Deborah Foreman) and China (Michelle Johnson) are invited by a strange gentleman, David Lincoln (David Warner) to enter at midnight for free at a newly opened wax museum in their wealthy town.
Having warned some of their friends, they go to the museum.
They are greeted by a dwarf and taken to a room with many statues depicting famous monsters from film and literature.
Overcoming the cords that limit each representation takes a space-time journey that makes each simulacrum "alive"...
Sympathetic 80s film that succeeds in reinventing the structure of episodic horror.
However, it has diffulty in choosing the best path, that is, whether to be purely a "serious" horror or demented.
Despite this, there is no shortage of interesting moments such as the journey into the world of Dracula, with decent gore sequences, or into that of De Sade.
Excellent make-up. There is an underlying desire to pay homage to the greats of horror cinema: there is not always adequate technique behind it, but it manages to entertain.
Bizarre but trite choral ending, far too simplistic and somewhat forced "demonic" twist.
