Venus: Rated R for Jaume Balagueró's horror film about witchcraft

Venus (Spain - 2022), the new horror film by Jaume Balagueró (Nameless, REC, Bed Time), was rated Rated R for “strong violence, blood, inappropriate language and drug use.”.
Targeted by Sony Pictures International Productions and Amazon Prime Video, Venus is a horror film about witchcraft and is inspired by the short story "Dreams in the haunted house” by H.P. Lovecraft.

This is the second film in the horror series “Fear Collection“, a label created by Sony Pictures International Productions in collaboration with Pokeepsie Films (production company of Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang) and Prime Video. The first installment of this collection is Veneciafrenia (2021) by Álex de la Iglesia (Day of the Beast).

Presented by the director as a horror film full of “terror, blood, aberrations and terribly bad people.”, Venus is the story of Lucía, a dancer on the run with a stash of pills and hunted by mobsters. She takes refuge in an apartment building, located on the outskirts of Madrid, with her sister Rocío and niece Alba, only to discover that the building is dominated by malevolent supernatural forces.

The screenplay of Venus is edited by Jaume Balagueró and Fernando Navarro (Verónica, Unknown Origins).
In the cast: Ester Expósito, Ángela Cremonte, Magüi Mira, Fernando Valdivieso and Federico Aguado.
