Twin Peaks, the famous US TV series from the 1990s will return twenty-five years later. This was announced by Mark Frost and David Lynch, the creators of the original series, who will be involved in the script of the new project. Also directing will be Lynch himself (Blue velvet, Lost roads).
The new Twin Peaks, scheduled for release in 2016, will return in a limited version that will include nine episodes. The series will go into production in 2015 while it will be broadcast on the network in 2016 to mark the 25th anniversary of the last program that aired.
According to Mark Frosta in Variety, the new series will not be a reboot or even a remake but a new chapter in the story that will continue after a full 25 years.
The cast is still unknown.
On the occasion of the new Twin Peaks, the ABC channel, the same channel that aired the 1990s drama, will rebroadcast the first two seasons until the premiere of the new series scheduled for 2016.
The first season consists of 8 episodes aired in Italy in 1991, while the second includes 22, which were passed on TV in the same year.
Recall that the series is set in Twin Peaks, a fictional town devastated by the death of Laura Palmer. The series is also known for being a mix of genres that blends drama, horror and supernatural for a surreal result.
