The Toxic Avenger (USA - 1984), l'iconico film cult della Troma diretto da Michael Herz e Lloyd Kaufman, avrà un remake. Del rifacimento si parlava già da diversi anni ma il progetto è stato avviato solo recentemente. In queste ore infatti è stato svelato il nome del regista che dirigerà il remake. Trattasi di Conrad Vernon, attore e filmmaker che dal 2001 al 2016 ha diretto solo film d'animazione (Shrek 2, Mostri contro alieni...).
Mike Arnold and Chris Poole will sign the screenplay while Richard Saperstein, Akiva Goldsman (Weed Road) and Charlie Corwin are involved in the production. Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz (the creators of the original franchise as well as founders of Troma) are the executive producers. In addition to the two of them, with Cooper and Alex Schwartz (Storyscape Entertainment) are also involved in the project, along with Greg Lessans (Weed Road), also serving as executive producers.
The new The Toxic Avenger sarà una rivisitazione dell'originale, la cui storia vede protagonista un adolescente che diventa un supereroe mutante in seguito alla sua caduta accidentale in una vasca di rifiuti tossici.
