Thorns is the title of the horror film directed by Douglas Schulze (Dark Heaven, The Rain, Mimesis: Nosferatu) and of which some interesting images have been released.
Played by the iconic Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), here as a mysterious archbishop, Thorns Should be released by the end of 2023.
In an interview with Fangoria, the director revealed, "The intention was to make a monster movie, an homage to the great horror films of the 1970s and 1980s. The thing by John Carpenter, Alien by Ridley Scott, The Exorcist William Friedkin's and, of course, Hellraiser by Clive Barker, have all been inspirational.".
In another interview, however, Douglas Schulze presented. Thorns as "a monster movie full of practical effects and blood, a film inspired by the cult films of the 1980s while also blending themes such as religion and science."
Plot: A former priest working for NASA is sent to investigate an observatory that seems to have run into trouble after receiving a mysterious radio signal from deep space. Upon arriving at the site, the man discovers that the signal has opened a portal, freeing a dangerous being.
The former priest will then have to regain his faith to prevent the end of the world.
