Trama: Anna Fox (Amy Adams) è una psicologa infantile che soffre di agorafobia, disturbo che la costringe a restare a casa e a interagire solo online. Un giorno, mentre spia i nuovi vicini dalla vita apparentemente perfetta e che vivono dall'altra parte della strada, assiste ad un brutale crimine. Da quel momento la vita della donna non sarà più la stessa.
