Anne Hathaway has joined the cast of The Witches, il nuovo adattamento cinematografico dell'omonimo romanzo ("Le streghe") scritto da Roald Dahl nel 1988 e da cui è stato tratto il film Who is afraid of witches? (1990) directed by Nicolas Roeg.
In The Witches, Anne Hathaway (Passengers - Mistero ad alta quota, Alice in Wonderland) sarà la Strega Suprema, ruolo interpretato da Anjelica Huston nel film del 1990.
The direction of The Witches will be under the signature of renowned U.S. screenwriter and director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Death Makes You Beautiful The Legend of Beowulf) while the names of Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron appear in the film's production.
Robert Zemeckis' version will be close to the source material. The book tells the story of a retired witch hunter and his grandson. On a trip to England, the two decide to stay overnight in a luxury hotel that is actually the residence of a coven of witches. Well aware of the dangers these witches can unleash, the duo devise a plan that can not only stop their murders, but also kill them forever.
