AMC has officially called for the creation of a spin-off of The Walking Dead. Thus, there will be a new series, the project of which includes Robert Kirkman (who will be in charge of the story), Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, the same executive producers of the famous TV series about the walking dead that, like the original will be produced by AMC Studios.
The spinoff will be a kind of prequel whose story will be set in the same world as The Walking Dead but centered in the period before the apocalypse, so it will address the causes of the contagion and the efforts made to prevent it, thus illuminating the dark corners of the saga currently reaching its fifth season.
The Walking Dead spin-off, currently untitled and still in the casting phase, is expected to see the light of day in 2015. The plot of the pilot is not yet known, meanwhile, six of the new main characters have been revealed:
Sean Cabrera, a Latino in his 40s, a kind and fair man;
Cody Cabrera, rebellious son of Sean;
Nancy Tompkins, a 30-year-old single mom with two children;
Nick Tompkins, Nancy's teenage son, a shy Araga boy who is afraid to leave home;
Ashley Tompkins, Nancy's teenage daughter, a very ambitious young girl;
Andrea Chapman, a flower child, a woman in her 40s leading a lonely life after the end of her marriage.
