After the first trailer released by Sony Pictures, the new poster for the horror film arrives online. The Unholy (formerly titled Shrine), the film adaptation of the novel of the same name written in 1983 by James Herbert.
Produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert (Ghost House Pictures) in collaboration with Screen Gems, The Unholy features Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast) in the directing booth, who also handled the screenplay.
The film will debut in U.S. theaters on April 2 with Sony Pictures.
The Unholy stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), here as a journalist investigating a young woman who can perform miracles.
Plot: Alice (Cricket Brown) is a hearing-impaired girl who, after a supposed visitation by the Virgin Mary, is inexplicably able to hear, speak and heal the sick. As word spreads and people flock to witness her miracles, Gerry Fenn (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), a disgraced journalist, reaches the small New England town to investigate the case, hoping to revive his career. When terrifying events begin to happen around the miracle worker, the journalist will question whether or not these phenomena have a divine origin.
