The Unfamiliar (UK – 2020) is the title of the horror film written and directed by Henk Pretorius, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Jennifer Nicole Stang.
The film tackles the theme of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as demonic possession, starring Jemima West (Shadowhunters – City of Bones) in the role of Elizabeth Cormack, a British army medical officer grappling with hallucinations, fears, and torment.
The US release date has been set for August 21 (VOD).
In The Unfamiliar, Elizabeth Cormack (Jemima West) returns home after the war. Scarred by the traumatic events she experienced during the conflict, she is convinced she is suffering from PTSD. Only with the passage of time will she realize that her malaise is actually caused by an evil entity that is devouring her soul.
