The story sheds light on a Midwestern family in a time frame from the end of World War II to the Vietnam War. Willard Russell (Bill Skarsgård) is a broken man about to lose his wife to cancer, while his son Arvin (Tom Holland) is bullied at school.
Meanwhile, in Knockemstiff, Ohio, a group of nutty serial killers (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), a crazed preacher (Robert Pattinson), and a corrupt sheriff (Sebastian Stan) act around this family.
In addition to the aforementioned actors, the cast includes Jason Clarke, Sebastian Stan (The Apparition), Haley Bennett (Kristy) and Eliza Scanlen (Little Women - 2019).
