the-spatial-invaders-DVDAlso included in Sinister Film's "Sci-Fi arthouse" series is the cult Space invaders (Invaders from Mars). The film, distributed by CG Entertainment, is offered in an inviting collector's edition with a poster and double disc. In fact, the edition includes the DVD of the science fiction genre film Space invaders (USA - 1953) by William Cameron Menzies while the second disc contains the fantasy-horror Invaders, the remake (HD restored version) of the '53 film, made by Tobe Hooper in 1986.

Plot: A young boy witnesses the descent of a flying saucer behind a hill near his home. From that moment, he notices that everyone around him, including his parents, has taken on strange behavior.

InvadersWith Space invaders by William Cameron Menzies delves into 1950s science fiction in which naiveté and the absence of current technology were the virtues of genuine, unspoiled cinema. Space invaders is a classic of the genre that paved the way for science fiction in later years and still manages to entertain today.

Despite the distant date of implementation, Space invaders indeed succeeds in creating moments of suspense as it successfully focuses on the spooky atmosphere caused by the unknown threat, credit to a good screenplay (Richard Blake). Even the alien-protected macrocephalus (very tall and covered with a kind of tight-fitting suit with conspicuous zipper behind the back) exerts, so many years later, a certain charm.

invaders-from-mars-1953-1This William Cameron Menzies classic, certainly recommended for nostalgic fans of old science fiction, enjoys several striking sequences such as those involving humans being sucked into the sand and changing personalities as a result of the implantation (in the back of the head) of the alien microchip.

Cast de Space invaders: Helena Carter, Arthur Franz, Jimmy Hunt, Leif Erickson, Hillary Brooke, Morris Ankrum, Max Wagner, William Phipps, and Milburn Stone.

invadersMind control by aliens is a theme that also fascinated Tobe Hooper, who, as mentioned above, made Invaders (USA - 1986), the remake of The Space Invaders. The film is in fact a true cast of the 1953 work to which small variations have been added.

However, in this distinctly 1980s remake, more room has been given to the horror component. In fact, Hooper's film makes use of successful special effects (the microchip implanted in the back of the neck, the professor swallowing a toad, the monstrous aliens) thus aiming to create horror situations in which there is no lack of humor in the spirit of the 1980s.

In the cast of Invaders: Karen Black, Hunter Carson, Timothy Bottoms, Laraine Newman, James Karen, Bud Cort, Christopher Allport, Louise Fletcher, Kenneth Kimmins and Eric Pierpoint.
