These days Netflix released, online, the Italian teaser trailer of the The snow society, the survival thriller that is based on the true story of the Andes air disaster (1972) and has already been transposed for film by René Cardona with The survivors of the Andes (1976) and by Frank Marshall with Alive - Survivors (1993).
Directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, the director of The Orphanage, The snow society will close the 80th Venice Film Festival, then attend the San Sebastián Film Festival (in the Perlak section) and arrive on Netflix at a date to be determined.
Plot: In 1972, Uruguay Air Force Flight 571 is transporting a rugby team to Chile but crashes in the Andes Mountains. As a result, the twenty-nine survivors of the forty-five on board become trapped in one of the most hostile and inaccessible places on the planet, and after several days waiting for rescue, they decide to resort to extreme measures to avoid starvation.
The cast includes Enzo Vogrincic, AgustÃn Pardella, MatÃas Recalt, Esteban Kukuriczka and Tomas Wolf.
