Produced by Flat Parioli and TMN Productions, the Italian horror film The Slaughter arrives in theaters July 21. The film is directed by Dario Germani (Anthropophagus II) on a script by Antonio Tentori, an Italian writer and screenwriter known for writing the subject of Demonia and the screenplay of A Cat in the Brain by Lucio Fulci and for collaborating with Sergio Stivaletti (The Three Faces of Terror) and Bruno Mattei (The Island of the Living Dead).
Plot: a group of friends decide to spend a night inside a large movie theater establishment where they attend a screening of "The Slaughter," a horror slasher in which a psychopath with his face covered by a mask kills some kids at a party.
The boys are unaware that they are being watched, followed and filmed by someone, until they become aware of the presence of an individual similar to the killer seen in the film.
It is only the beginning of an agonizing night of terror....
The director states, "The Slaughter stage a night of sex and drugs in the temple of cinema, considering that we are talking about a development and printing lab. The first thing I thought of was to have the scriptwriter add jokes about films belonging to an important period in Italian genre cinema. So you will hear the names of cult directors such as Lucio Fulci and Bruno Mattei.
In this regard, the advice of Claudio Fragasso, author of so much horror and such well-known titles as Palermo Milan one way and its sequel, which was reminiscent of film after film of the killings. In addition, then, we have a demonic component that recalls other films.
Following Anthropophagus II, this is a film through which we wanted to continue our homage to that celluloid extracult, but this time treading less heavily on gore. Incidentally, we were fortunate to have very good native English-speaking actors, some moreover here on their first try".
In the cast of The Slaughter: Tonia De Micco, Samuel Kay, Nadia Rahman, Janice Quinol, Roberto Luigi Mauri, Jason Prempeh, Tashi Higgins and Fabrizio Bordignon.
Photography is by Germani himself.
