Following Hellboy (2019), Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers, The Descent) returns to horror with The Reckoning, a costume film set during the great plague in 17th-century England.
The Reckoning will be distributed by RLJE Entertainment before coming to Shudder (US market).
The story of The Reckoning follows the story of Grace Haverstock, a young woman who, following the suicide of her husband Joseph, is falsely accused of witchcraft by Squire Pendleton, the jealous homeowner, after continuous refusals to his insistent advances.
Grace will be pursued by Judge Moorcroft, the most ruthless witch hunter in England, and at the same time she will have to face her inner demons as the Devil tries to creep into her fragile mind.
In the cast of The Reckoning there are Charlotte Kirk, Sean Pertwee, Joe Anderson, Steven Waddington, Mark Ryan, Ian Whyte, and Emma Holzer.
The screenplay is a collaboration of Edward Evers-Swindell, Charlotte Kirk
and Neil Marshall.
