According to Variety, Everardo Gout will direct The Purge 5, the new chapter in the well-known saga that began in 2013.
In 2011, the aforementioned director directed Days of Grace and recently directed several episodes of the series Mars by Nat Geo.
Produced by Blumhouse Productions in collaboration with Platinum Dunes and Universal Pictures, this fifth installment of the saga it will be the final one. The screenplay for the film will be written by James DeMonaco, the creator of the franchise, screenwriter of the other installments, and director of the first three films.
Universal will distribute The Purge 5 in US theaters on July 10, 2020.
No plot has been revealed yet, but like the other chapters in the franchise, The Purge 5 will focus on the night of the Purge, i.e., 12 hours a year when all crimes are legal.
