With a message on Twitter, Russell Crowe (Gladiator, The Wrong Day) announced the end of filming of The Pope's Exorcist (2023), the new horror film by Julius Avery (Overlord).
In the film, the actor plays Father Amorth (1925-2016), the Italian exorcist who claimed to have performed about 70,000 exorcisms from 1986 to 2007. The clergyman also claimed to have been confronted, a hundred times, with actual demonic possessions and to have generally dealt with cases of demonic disorders or mental illness.
Nel cast figurano anche Laurel Marsden (Ms. Marvel), Cornell S. John (Animali fantastici: I crimini di Grindelwald), Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, Tom Bonington (Maleficent 2: Signora del male), Alex Essoe (Midnight Mass), Daniel Zovatto (It Follows) e Franco Nero (Django, Il terzo occhio). Quest'ultimo nei panni del Papa.
Produced by Sony, The Pope's Exorcist is written by Chester Hastings, R. Dean McCreary and Evan Spiliotopoulos.
Today I bid farewell to my version of Fr Gabriele Amorth.
A man of pure faith.
