Harry Melling will be Edgar Allan Poe in. The Pale Blue Eye (2021), the crime thriller that marks a new collaboration between director Scott Cooper (Antlers) and Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale after The fire of vengeance (2013) e Hostiles - Hostile (2017).
Written and directed by Scott Cooper, The Pale Blue Eye is the film adaptation of Louis Bayard's novel of the same name. It is a costume detective story featuring a young Edgar Allan Poe.
The film was acquired by Netflix for $55 million during the European Film Market in Berlin.
The story of The Pale Blue Eye revolves around trying to solve a series of murders that occurred in 1830 at the West Point Military Academy. British actor Christian Bale will play a retired detective involved in the investigation. He will be joined by Edgar Allan Poe, a young cadet who is very detail-oriented but has a penchant for alcohol and poetry and later becomes a world-renowned author.
Scott Cooper and Christian Bale appear in the production of the project along with John Lesher and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek.
Filming is expected to begin next fall.
Starting with the Harry Potter saga, in recent years Harry Melling has landed increasingly prominent roles including one in the TV miniseries The chess queen with Anya Taylor-Joy.
Christian Bale, on the other hand, is known for his performances in American Psycho, The sleepless man, Harsh Times - The Days of Hate, That train to Yuma and The dark knight.
