Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale (American Psycho, The Sleepless Man, The Dark Knight) appears in the first two images of the crime horror thriller The Pale Blue Eye, the film adaptation of the gothic thriller novel of the same name written by Louis Bayard in 2006.
Christian Bale plays retired detective Augustus Landor, assigned to investigate a series of murders.
Written and directed by Scott Cooper (Antlers), this Netflix-branded film is a costume detective story featuring a young Edgar Allan Poe, here played by Harry Melling (Harry Potter, The Chess Queen).
The Pale Blue Eye will debut in U.S. theaters on Dec. 23 while it will arrive on Netflix on Jan. 6, 2023.
This film adaptation marks a new collaboration between director Scott Cooper and Christian Bale after The fire of vengeance (2013) e Hostiles - Hostile (2017). The two also appear in the production of the project along with John Lesher and Tyler Thompson of Cross Creek.
The story revolves around trying to solve a series of murders that occurred in 1830 at West Point Military Academy. British actor Christian Bale will play a retired detective involved in the investigation. At his side will be Edgar Allan Poe, a young cadet who is very detail-oriented but has a penchant for alcohol and poetry and later becomes a world-renowned author.
Also in the cast are Gillian Anderson (The Crown), Lucy Boynton (Apostle), Charlotte Gainsbourg (Antichrist), Toby Jones (The Mist), Simon McBurney (The Mole), Timothy Spall (Sweeney Todd), Fred Hechinger (Fear Street), Matt Helm (Crime Queens), Charlie Tahan (I Am Legend), and Robert Duvall (Apocalypse Now).
