According to reports from Deadline, Anna Popplewell (The Chronicles of Narnia, Freak of Nurture) and Katelyn Rose Downey (The Princess) have joined the cast of The Nun 2, the sequel to The Nun - The Calling of Evil (2018).
The two films are part of the spin-off saga of The Conjuring - The Enfield Case (2016) and centered on the demon Valak who comes in the guise of a nun.
Produced by James Wan, The Nun 2 will be directed by Michael Chaves (La Llorona - The Tears of Evil) on a script penned by Akela Cooper (Malignant).
Filming will take place in France later this year while the U.S. release has been set for September 8, 2023.
As Sister Irene and the demon Valak, we find Taissa Farmiga and Bonnie Aarons, the protagonists of the first chapter, respectively. In addition to the two of them, the cast also includes Storm Reid (The Invisible Man, The Suicide Squad - Suicide Mission).
The story of the first installment was set in 1952, in Romania, while the sequel takes place in 1956, in France and will shed light on the rise of an ancient evil that awakens after the mysterious murder of a priest. Once again, Sister Irene will come face to face with Valak...
