The Northman (USA, UK – 2022), il film sui vichinghi diretto da Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Lighthouse), ha ricevuto un rating R (vietato ai minori di 17 anni) per la presenza, nel progetto, di “forte contenuto violento, sessuale e anche nudità".
The Northman will debut in Italian theaters on April 28 with Universal Pictures.
Set in 10th-century Iceland, the story of The Northman stars Alexander Skarsgård (Melancholia) as Amleth, a Viking prince who intends to avenge his father who was murdered many years earlier when he was a child.
The cast also includes Willem Dafoe (Antichrist), Nicole Kidman (The Others), Anya Taylor-Joy (The VVitch), Ethan Hawke (Sinister), Claes Bang, and Icelandic singer-songwriter and composer Bjork along with her daughter Ísadóra Bjarkardóttir Barney.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Robert Eggers himself in collaboration with Icelandic writer and poet Sjón.
Mark Huffam, New Regency and Lars Knudsen (the producer of The VVitch, Midsommar, The Hereditary) appear in the production of the film.
