On his Facebook page, musician and director Rob Zombie (House of 1000 Bodies, House of the Devil) shared a new photo from the set of The Munsters. The film has been rated PG or "Parental Guidance" (thus recommended for viewing with an adult present in the case of children) due to some scary scenes, images, language and content.
Targeted by Universal, The Munsters is the film adaptation of the CBS horror sitcom of the same name that debuted in the US in 1964.
In the cast of The Munsters we find Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster, Dan Roebuck as Grandpa Munster, Sylvester McCoy as the servant Igor, Richard Brake as Dr. Wolfgang, Joe Garcia as Floop (a new character and Dr. Wolfgang's assistant), Catherine Schell as Zoya Krupp "the Gypsy Queen," and Cassandra Peterson (known by her stage name "Elvira, Mistress of Darkness") as real estate agent Barbara Carr.
Composed of two seasons, of 38 and 32 episodes each, The Munsters originated as a TV series in the 1960s and tells the story of a monster family that leaves Transylvania and moves to an American suburb. Several films have been made over the years and also the sequel TV series Monsters 20 years later (1988).
The members of this strange family are: father Herman, a kind of Frankenstein's creature; mother Lily, a vampire modeled after the famous Frankenstein's Wife; his grandfather, a vampire dressed in the "classic" outfit made famous by Bela Lugosi; his werewolf son Eddie Wolfgang; and his granddaughter Marilyn, the only "normal" person in the family.
