i-dead-livingThe Okf industry produces and exports milk. The secretary of the president of that industry is involved in the contamination of a milk tank with chemicals, an act that will cause, in addition to scandal, the death of three girls. The young girls will rise from the dead thanks to the chemical waste that is poured over the graves.
We are faced with a delightful French film with a typical 1980s feel in which horror and eroticism are fused. Indeed, the (somewhat delirious) story is accompanied by a succession of nudity and heinous murders.
The zombie who kills a woman by sticking his stiletto heel in her eye, the biting emasculation sequence, the pregnant woman in the shower whose belly is opened, or the sword scene are certainly memorable and enjoyable scenes in their rawness. The film lapses into unintentional dementia at times as the zombies swim in the pool, hide or face a lesbian situation. Aside from this and the disappointing ending, The Walking Dead are Among Us (directed by Pierre B. Reinhard in 1987) enjoys (in addition to decent make-up and excellent splatter scenes) excellent cinematography and music that give the film an aura of mystery and a hint of dark charm.
The moment when the three dead women emerge from the grave accompanied by macabre and intense music and slowly make their way to the cemetery gate surely characterizes the pinnacle of old 80s-style horror.
A film to remember and savor again.
