A24 has released the official trailer for The Lighthouse, the fantasy horror starring Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe, here as two lighthouse keepers. The film is written and directed by Robert Eggers, the director of the acclaimed The VVitch (USA, UK, Canada - 2015).
Shot in 35mm, black and white, The Lighthouse had its world premiere during the "Directors' Fortnight" of the 2019 Cannes Film Festival where it was awarded Best Film.
The Lighthouse will debut in U.S. theaters on Oct. 18 while the Italian release date remains unknown.
The story of The Lighthouse is based on the terrifying legends of the sea and desolate lighthouses and takes place during the early 1900s on a remote New England island.
The protagonists are Thomas (Willem Dafoe) and Ephraim (Robert Pattinson), two lighthouse keepers who lead lives isolated from the rest of the world. In time, however, loneliness will give way to obsessions and madness that will turn the two men against each other.
In the cast of The Lighthouse, oltre a Robert Pattinson ("Twilight") e a Willem Dafoe (“Antichrist”, “Daybreakers – L’ultimo vampiro”), c'è anche Valeriia Karaman.
