Thanks to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment Italia, the horror film The Lighthouse is available from November 11 in DVD, Blu-ray and Special Edition Blu-ray formats with nearly 50 minutes of exclusive special content. The Special Edition Blu-ray also contains 4 art-cards from the film.
A clip from the extras was released to mark the occasion.
The Lighthouse is written and directed by Robert Eggers (The VVitch) and stars Robert Pattinson (Cosmopolis) and Willem Dafoe (Antichrist, Daybreakers-The Last Vampire). The two play two lighthouse keepers on a remote and mysterious New England island in the late 19th century.
Shot in 35mm in a fascinating black and white, the film won several nominations (including Academy Awards) and awards.
Plot: Thomas Wake (Willem Dafoe) is the seasonal keeper of a lighthouse lost in the wilderness on an island buffeted by winds and storms in late 19th-century Nova Scotia, while Ephraim Winslow (Pattinson) is his young helper, volunteering for the four-week shift.
In time, the obsessions and madness of the two will take over, turning them against each other.
Presented for the first time at Cannes in the section Directors' Fortnight and later nominated for an Academy Award in the Best Picture category, The Lighthouse is among the most anticipated titles of the year. In addition, last Oct. 11, The Lighthouse was screened as the closing film of the Fipili Horror Festival of Livorno.
