Grave Hill is the remake of The Housemaid (aka The Housemaid: Cô Hầu Gái), the Vietnamese horror film written and directed by Derek Nguyen in 2016. This is a ghost movie that falls into the haunted house genre.
The story of the original film features Linh (Kate Nhung), an orphan of Vietnamese descent who is hired as a maid on a rubber plantation located in French Indochina. Here the young woman falls in love with a French landowner (Jean-Michel Richaud), and their relationship awakens the vengeful ghost of his deceased wife.
The story of Grave Hill instead will take place in South America, during the Reconstruction era (1863 - 1867). The script for the remake will be by Oscar winner Geoffrey Fletcher (Precious) in collaboration with Derek Nguyen, the screenwriter and director of the The Housemaid.
The film is produced by CJ Entertainment while Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Jerry Ko, Roxanne Taylor and Sean Sorensen are the executive producers.
