The House 5 - Movie Review

Father George abandons his cassock following a shocking encounter with the demon in the cell of a woman condemned to death. The woman reveals to the cleric that she is actually the reincarnation of a New England witch and hands him a book on which the figure of the demon Baphomet towers.
Years later Peter, a young Protestant pastor, moves into an old New England home with his wife and two children. Unexplained phenomena begin to occur in the mansion, seemingly related to "poltergeist" phenomenology until Peter begins to show signs of a possible haunting. In fact, the house is haunted by the diabolical presence of the ghost of a witch who had lived there centuries before. Moreover, attempts carried out by religious people will say that in fact, in that place, not one but seven were the devil's followers.
Fighting the evil presences will not be at all easy and will require all the faith left in Rev. George.

Belonging to the "cursed houses" subgenre, House 5 (Italia - 1990) è il terzo seguito apocrifo dei film Evil Dead and House 2 by Sam Raimi.
House 5 features Claudio Fragrasso (who goes by the pseudonym Clyde Anderson), an Italian director, screenwriter and producer known for directing Zombies 4: After Death, Don't Open That Door 3, Monster Dog and for writing several horror screenplays, on all of them Virus - L'inferno dei morti viventi (1980) by Bruno Mattei.

The House 5 represents the director's last foray into horror, and it is a pity, because overall the film denotes a style and technical ability worthy of attention. As it is also curious (and also courageous) to take up the theme of exorcism years later and bring it to Italian screens in decidedly unsuitable times.
The production is by Joe D'Amato, and, for this title as well, the considerations already given in connection with the two previous apocrypha (The House 3 and The House 4).

Bellissima e pertinente la colonna sonora che è stata utilizzata più volte nelle produzioni Filmirage di Joe D’Amato. Decisamente sovraccaricata invece l’interpretazione di David Brandon (Maestro del Terrore, Deliria, Caligola - La storia mai raccontata) sebbene sia perfettamente in tono con il carattere del film.
Definitely Claudio Fragasso's best effort in horror.
