In December 2014 (link all'articolo) we had told you about The Herd, il cortometraggio horror di impronta vegana che affronta il maltrattamento degli animali nell'industria lattiero-casearia. Il film è scritto da Ed Pope ed è diretto da Melanie Light (Switch), who also oversaw its production.
Il corto, della durata di circa 20 minuti, punta sulle pessime condizioni degli allevamenti intensivi e si presenta una forte critica di tipo sociale mostrandoci, al posto degli animali, delle donne maltrattate. Queste ultime infatti subiscono lo stesso trattamento delle mucche ovvero vengono "impregnate" al fine di produrre il latte destinato alla vendita.
Abstract: Women are locked up in a sheepfold and treated like cattle. Among the victims is Paula (Victoria Broom) who, like the other girls, suffers mistreatment from the men who keep her locked in a cage but still has the strength to dream of a better life. Escaping from that place, however, will be difficult.
The cast includes Victoria Broom, Pollyanna McIntosh, Dylan Barnes, Sarah Jane Honeywell, Andrew Shim, Jon Campling, and Charlotte Hunter.
In 2015 The Herd has racked up awards at a variety of festivals:

- Best Cinematography - Bart Sienkiewicz – British Horror Film Festival (UK);
- Best Short Horror Film – Celluloid Screams (UK);
- Best Foreign Short film – Russian Annual Horror Film Awards (Russia);
- Best Horror Short – London Independent Film Festival (UK);
- Best Horror /Sci Fi – Sunderland Shorts (UK).
