Dev Patel (The Millionaire) appears in the new poster for. The Green Knight, the fantasy horror film written and directed by David Lowery (A Ghost's Tale).
The Green Knight will debut in U.S. theaters on July 30, 2021 distributed by A24 and will be banned for minors due to violence, nudity and sexual content. No Italian release date has been announced at this time.
The film has been billed as an epic fantasy adventure based on timeless Arthurian legends and featuring echoes of 1980s cinema. The Green Knight in fact it is inspired by Arthurian myths, especially "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight", the chivalric poem dating back to the late 14th century and recounting the adventure of Gawain, a knight belonging to the Round Table.
The protagonist of the story is Gawain (Dev Patel), the reckless and headstrong grandson of King Arthur as well as a knight of the Round Table. To give a demonstration of his courage and strength to his family and kingdom, the loyal young man will hunt down the Green Knight, a giant warrior with emerald skin. Gawain will battle ghosts, giants, and thieves in what will become a deep and treacherous journey that will bring him face to face with a very strong and dangerous foe in the final duel.
In the cast of The Green Knight also include Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider - 2018), Joel Edgerton (It Comes at Night), Barry Keoghan (The Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer), Ralph Ineson (The VVitch), Sarita Choudhury (Lady in the Water), Sean Harris (Prometheus) and Kate Dickie (The Witch).
