Peggy Neal in "The Monsters of the Sunken City" (1966)

The crowdfunding campaign of The Great Buddha Arrival (aka Daibutsu Kaikoju) si è conclusa con successo ma ora ne è stata avviata un'altra dedicata a Peggy Neal, attrice nota per aver recitato in film fantascientifici giapponesi come The monsters of the sunken city (1966), Earth Odyssey (1967) e Kureji ogon sakusen (1967). The budget reached on Kickstarter sarà destinato a coprire le spese dell'attrice, la quale è ansiosa di tornare sul set dopo ben 51 anni dalla sua ultima interpretazione (Kureji ogon sakusen).

The film is in pre-production, and the cast is currently as follows: Akira Takarada (Japanese actor primarily known for the Godzilla film series, including the 1954 one), Yukijiro Hotaru, Shelley Sweeney, Masanori Kikuzawa, Yoshihiko Otsuki (Godzilla Final Wars), Junichiro Nirasawa (Godzilla Final Wars), Kazuma Yoneyama, and Takashi Yasuda. The music is by Hiromi Shinoda.

The screenplay of The Great Buddha Arrival was written by Hiroto Yokokawa, Yuki Yonezawa, and Kazuma Yoneyama. Filming of the film will begin in August, and the release date may be set in December.
