Entertainment Weekly has released the official poster for The Exorcist, the series that will debut on Sept. 23, 2016, on Fox. The story features two priests who will find themselves involved in the same case of demonic possession. The ambitious and modern Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) will confront his opposite that is Father Marcus Brennan (Ben Daniels), a stern man consumed by his faith.
The Exorcist is in the psychological thriller-horror genre. The pilot is written by Jeremy Slater and directed by Rupert Wyatt.
Plot: Evil seems to have struck the Rance family, whose members are part of the Father Tomas community. Within the household, everything seems normal, but in reality the head of the family (Alan Ruck) is losing his mind while the oldest daughter, Katherine (Brianne Howey), lives a recluse in her room. Sister Casey (Hannah Kasulka), on the other hand, hears strange noises that seem to come out of the walls. Finally, Mrs. Rance, Angela (Geena Davis), is plagued by strange nightmares and senses a demonic presence in the house.
The Exorcist is based on the novel of the same name written by William Peter Blatty in 1971. The same writer was also responsible for the screenplay of the famous film directed by William Friedkin in 1973.
