Netflix has released the trailer for the The roads of evil (The Devil All The Time), the psychological thriller to be released next Sept. 16. Produced by Jake Gyllenhaal and directed by Antonio Campos, The Devil All the Time is the film adaptation of the novel "The roads of evil" by Donald Ray Pollock.
The film is written by Antonio Campos himself and boasts a stellar cast in which the names of Tom Holland (Spider-Man), Bill Skarsgård (IT), Robert Pattinson (The Lighthouse), Riley Keough (Jack's House), Jason Clarke, Sebastian Stan (The Apparition), Haley Bennett (Kristy), Mia Wasikowska (Piercing) and Eliza Scanlen (Little Women - 2019) stand out.
The story sheds light on a Midwestern family in a time frame from the end of World War II to the Vietnam War.
Willard Russell (Bill Skarsgård) is a World War I veteran who is about to lose his wife to cancer. At first the man will resort to prayers, then rituals involving animal sacrifices under the watchful eye of his son Arvin (Tom Holland), a child who is also bullied at school. As an adult, the latter's life will be intertwined with that of deranged characters including a pair of nutty serial killers (Jason Clarke and Riley Keough), a mad preacher (Robert Pattinson) and a corrupt sheriff (Sebastian Stan).
