On March 10, the claustrophobic The Dark Below will be distributed on a limited basis in some U.S. theaters through Parade Deck Films. Directing it is Douglas Schulze, previously the author of horror films such as Dark Heaven, The Rain and Mimesis, for a screenplay in which he himself collaborated with Jonathan D'Ambrosio.
In The Dark Below, Lauren Mae Shafer plays a woman who becomes trapped in a frozen lake. The obstacle is a ruthless serial killer who, from outside on the ice surface, tries to make her freeze to death or drown.
Actors' names: Lauren Mae Shafer (Mimesis, Fractured), David G.B. Brown, Veronica Cartwright (The Birds, Terror from Deep Space, Alien) and Seraphina Anne Zorn.
Photography is by Robert Skates while the soundtrack is by Eric Bobo.
The film was screened at several festivals including Fantasia International Film Festival, FrightFest UK, Monsters of Film in Sweden, and Toronto After Dark.
