The remake of The Raven is again stalled. According to reports from Deadline, il regista Corin Hardy e l'attore Jason Momoa hanno definitivamente abbandonato il progetto. Lo sfortunato rifacimento (di cui si parla ormai da diversi anni) dedicato al tormentato Eric Draven sarebbe dovuto arrivare nelle sale statunitensi ad ottobre 2019 ditribuito da Sony. Le motivazioni dell’abbandono da parte di Hardy e di Momoa non sono ancora chiare ma potrebbero essere legate ad alcune divergenze artistiche ed economiche tra i produttori del film e la Sony Pictures (anch'essa ormai fuori dal progetto).
In Corin Hardy's (The Hallow) film, Jason Momoa was to play Eric Draven, a role the late Brandon Lee stepped into in the The Crow - The Crow (1994) by Alex Proyas. The film is based on the James O'Barr comic book of the same name first published between 1988 and 1989.
The Raven by Proyas went on to spawn a series of sequels (less successful and inferior to the first chapter) such as The Crow 2 - City of Angels (1996), The Crow - Salvation (2000) e The Crow - Cursed Prayer (2005).
We laugh that there have been several directors who were announced and then backed out. These include Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, F. Javier Gutiérrez, and now Corin Hardy. Instead, Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston, and finally Jason Momoa have given up the role of Eric Draven.
