Following the success of the Special Editions of Dario Argento's two cult films (4 Gray Velvet Flies and Opera), CG Entertainment has launched a new project START UP! for The Church (Italy - 1989), the unmissable horror film by Michele Soavi. Thanks to the support of crowdfunder, this important film (written and produced by Argento) of Italian cinematography will also be able to be released in a Special Edition, limited (only 500 copies), numbered and autographed.
For the project to be realized, at least 300 pre-purchases will need to be made (by November 24) through the crowdfunding service START UP! at this address.
How will the Special, Limited, Numbered and Autographed Edition of the The Church:
- Â New packaging with the artwork created, in
exclusive to this project, from Malleus. Ecolbox format with a 17.7cm x 26.7cm book-opening and 2.7cm thickness;
- the Dvd and Blu-ray of the film, made from the new HD master supplied by RTI, will be contained in a digipack with reproduction of the original artwork;
- will feature unreleased bonuses including video interviews with Michele Soavi and Dario Argento;
- DVD and Blu-ray will be accompanied by "The Church - The apocalypse of the demons", a 120-page book;
- 1 collector's card autographed by Michele Soavi
- special thanks (from CG) to all those who participated in the START UP! campaign by posting their names inside the package
The Special, Limited, Numbered and Autographed Edition of. The Church will only be available on the official website of CG Entertainment at a price of 59.99 euros.
Plot of The Church: In the Middle Ages, an army of Teutonic Knights massacres the inhabitants of a village because they are accused of witchcraft. The pit collecting all the corpses is sealed with a huge stone cross on which a cathedral will be erected. Only a little girl escapes the massacre.
Centuries later, librarian Ewald is commissioned to catalogue the manuscripts of an ancient church in the heart of a German town. Here he will befriend restorer Lisa (Barbara Cupisti) and Lotte (Asia Argento), the sexton's daughter. Gradually, however, the man will become convinced that the cathedral conceals a horrible and dark past linked to ancient bloody events.
