The Chair (USA - 2016), il thriller-horror diretto da Chad Ferrin (The Ghouls, Easter Bunny, Kill! Kill!, Someone knocks on the door, Parasites), will be available for VOD but also in DVD and Blu-ray formats in October 2017 (you can already make the pre-order on Kickstarter). The film made its theatrical debut in Burbank, Canada, on October 18, 2016, and had a limited theatrical release in 30 other U.S. cities between 2016 and 2017.
The screenplay of The Chair (link to review) is by Erin Kohut, who co-developed the story with Peter Simeti. Chad Ferrin's film is in fact based on the graphic novel of the same name published by Alterna Comics in 2008. The graphic novel is written by Peter Simeti, who did the drawings along with Kevin Christensen.
Come per il romanzo grafico, anche nel lungometraggio la storia si svolge in una lugubre prigione in cui i detenuti vengono umiliati e seviziati. Tra di loro, nel braccio della morte, c’è Richard Sullivan (Timothy Muskatell) che assiste impotente alle torture a cui vengono sottoposti i suoi amici. I torturatori sono proprio le guardie penitenziarie, le quali, insieme al direttore del carcere (Bill Oberst Jr.), godono nell'infliggere sofferenze ai più deboli.
The cast consists of several well-known actors including: the protagonist of They live namely Roddy Piper (here in his latest performance), Noah Hathaway (the Atreyu from The Neverending Story), Naomi Grossman (American Horror Story), Bill Oberst Jr. (Circus of the Dead), Timothy Muskatell (Deadgirl), Joseph Pilate (Day of the Dead), Ezra Buzzington (The hills have eyes - 2006).
