We have been following the developments in The Chair from 2014, when we shared the first teaser trailer of this intense psychological thriller-horror (link to news story). In addition, it was announced that The Chair will debut in theaters in Burbank, Canada, on Oct. 18 while it will be released in theaters in 30 other U.S. cities between 2016 and 2017.
The screenplay of The Chair is by Erin Kohut, who handled the story together with Peter Simeti. The Chair in fact is based on the graphic novel of the same name published by Alterna Comics in 2008. The graphic novel is written by Peter Simeti who handled the drawings along with Kevin Christensen.
Like the graphic novel, the story in Chad Ferrin's feature film takes place in a bleak and disturbing prison that undermines the sanity of the inmates. Among them, on death row, is Richard Sullivan (Timothy Muskatell), who helplessly witnesses the torture carried out on prisoners at the hands of a psychopathic prison guard, who, along with the prison warden, enjoys carrying out vicious acts against the weakest.

In the film, Joseph Pilato (Day of the Zombies) is also featured in a cameo.
