The found footage franchise The Blair Witch Project is returning to the big screen with a new movie. Lionsgate has announced that the Blair Witch will return to U.S. theaters on September 24, 2027.
The film will be directed by Dylan Clark, the filmmaker behind the horror short Portrait of God, from a screenplay by Chris Thomas Devlin.

Presented as a new chapter that will take audiences back into the woods of the Blair legend, the project also reunites the creators of the original film. Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, Gregg Hale, and actors Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams are serving as executive producers.
The producing team also includes Jason Blum for Blumhouse, James Wan for Atomic Monster, along with Roy Lee, Adam Hendricks, and Greg Gilreath.

Producer James Wan told Indiewire, “Getting all the original people that were involved in the original Blair Witch, getting their blessing and getting them involved. That was very important for all of us. We wanted to pay respect to the legacy of it all”.

Dylan Clark first gained attention on YouTube after his horror short Portrait of God went viral. The film is currently being developed as a feature, with Jordan Peele and Sam Raimi attached as producers.
Clark is also writing and directing the feature adaptation of his short film Story Time.
