Following TetroManiac: eROTik (inspired by the murders of Jeffrey Dahmer), Italian director Domiziano Cristopharo (Doll Syndrome, Xpiation) directs the second film in the TETROMANIAC series of TetroVideo, the series of disturbing titles about the true stories of criminals and serial killers. These are TetroManiac: Confessions of a Necrophile Girl (aka Confessions of a Necrophile Girl), the disturbing erotic drama that, like eROTik, in addition to drawing on actual facts, has necrophilia as its leading theme.
TetroManiac: Confessions of a Necrophile Girl in fact is loosely based on the true story of American necrophiliac Karen Greenlee, an embalmer at a funeral home who in the 1970s confessed to having a strong attraction to dead bodies, a sexual perversion she described in a 1987 interview as an "addiction."
His story has already been addressed in the Canadian film Kissed (1996) by Lynne Stopkewich and, in 2020, it is brought back to life again thanks to Domiziano Cristopharo, who gives it the right amount of horror and bleakness inherent in the subject matter, focusing on the adult phase of the main subject and, above all, on the episodes that merge eroticism and death.
In Confessions of a necrophiliac, giving the face of Karen Greenlee is Angela del Regno, here in her first acting effort. After an opening sequence in which her character is immortalized in one of her most vulnerable moments, she traces, in a video diary, the highlights of her life, such as her childhood, loves and the scandal that engulfed her in the 1970s, taking the viewer through her passion for Thanatopraxis and corpses.
Angelic and charming, the actress gives a good performance especially in flashbacks that depict her during the cosmetic treatment of corpses and then indulging in necrophilic acts. Sequences, these, that emphasize life and death through amplexes reminiscent of several films centered on this sexual deviation.
From the Thanatopraxis of Departures (2008) by Yojiro Takita, to the elegance and charm of the character reminiscent of that in Love Me Deadly (1972) by Jacques Lacerte, all the way to Nekromantik (1987) because of the rotting corpses that become the subject of greater interest for the tanatoesteta.
TetroManiac: Confessions of a Necrophile Girl also goes beyond reality, reaching a perverse and horrific dream dimension when, in one of the protagonist's dreams, we witness an orgiastic sketch with corpses. Moment, the latter, highly evocative and almost poetic that brings to mind Haeckel's Tale (an episode of the TV series Masters of Horror) and which is also one of the film's thickest sequences, thanks in part to outstanding cinematography.
With TetroManiac: Confessions of a Necrophile Girl, the director directs an unforgettable film about necrophilia, extending the attraction to corpses even into dreams, for a vision of death charged with fascination and eroticism.
A must-see film about eros and thanatos, certainly among the best titles on necrophilia.
Plot - Through a video diary, Karen traces the most important moments of her life: from childhood to her first loves and the scandal that engulfed her, bringing out a deep fascination with death and corpses, an obsession that has always accompanied her since childhood.
Completing the cast are Lorenzo Fedele (Vore/Gore), Dario Almerighi (Me and the Devil), Vincenzo Paliasc and Daniele Arturi (The House Guest). Special guests: Alvia Reale (Tales to tell in the Dark), Chiara Pavoni (Xpiation), Andrea Autullo (Baby Gang), Paolo Di Gialluca (7 Sins) and Mario De Lillo.
