A week ago, Screen Anarchy reported that Guillermo del Toro was in talks to produce a remake of the disturbing Argentine horror film. Terrified (aka Aterrados) for Fox Searchlight. A few days later, Oscar winner Guillermo del Toro confirmed his involvement in the project alongside Demián Rugna (the director of Aterrados) who will direct the American remake.
Written and directed by Demián Rugna, Terrified (Argentina – 2017) was presented at Fantastic Fest last September and recently also at the Trieste Science+Fiction Festival.
Movie plot: A suburb of Buenos Aires is shaken by a series of inexplicable and mysterious violent deaths. The case is assigned to a police officer nearing retirement. Together with two paranormal investigators, the cop will examine the gruesome incidents and then come face to face with a terrifying truth.
Over the years, Mexican director, screenwriter, and producer Guillermo del Toro has received many awards for his work in cinema. His latest film, the fantasy The Shape of Water (2017), won the Golden Lion at the 74th Venice International Film Festival.
