Earlier today, Frenesy Films and Mythology Entertainment announced that Thom Yorke, the lead singer of Radiohead, will handle the soundtrack for the remake of Suspiria. For the leader of the English alternative rock band, this will be the first involvement in the world of film.
The remaking of Suspiria features Luca Guadagnino (Melissa P., Bigger Splash) as director while the screenplay is by David Kajganich. Amazon Studios financed the film together with K Period Media while, again, Amazon will handle distribution in U.S. theaters. It is scheduled for theatrical release in 2018.
The plot of the remake of Suspiria sarà fedele a quello originale girato da Dario Argento. La storia invece sarà ambientata nella Berlino degli anni '70 e darà rilievo alla figura di Mater Suspiriorum. Inoltre il remake sarà fortemente influenzato dal cinema di R.W. Fassbinder (Lola, Querelle de Brest).
Confirmed in the cast are Chloe Moretz (Blood Story, The Look of Satan - Carrie), Tilda Swinton (Constantine, Only Lovers Survive), Mia Goth and Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey). The latter will be the new Suzy Bannion. Also in a cameo, as Anke, will be Jessica Harper (link to news story), the lead actress who played Suzy Bannion in the 1977 Argentine masterpiece.
