The filming of the remake of Suspiria will begin in September 2016. This was stated by Italian director Luca Guadagnino in un'intervista che ha rilasciato a ThePlaylist a couple of days ago.
Guadagnino, who confirmed that he would direct the remake of the famous Argentine film last September, right during the Venice Film Festival, thus seems ready to realize this much-discussed project.
The first cast names to be announced were those of Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) and Isabelle Huppert, followed in March by those of Tilda Swinton (Constantine, Only Lovers Survive) and Dakota Johnson (50 Shades of Grey). The two actresses will thus return to acting together again after A Bigger Splash (by Guadagnino himself), a film that premiered at last year's Venice Film Festival.
The remake will be heavily influenced by the cinema of R.W. Fassbinder (Lola, Querelle de Brest) and the plot will be faithful to the original one shot by Dario Argento in 1977. The story will be set in 1970s Berlin and will focus on the figure of the mother and the concept of motherhood.
