Online the poster of the horror film Street Trash, a remake of the melt movie of the same name directed by Jim Muro in 1987 and distributed in Italy under the title Horror on Bowery Street.
Directed by Ryan Kruger (Fried Barry), the film is shot in 35mm and will be available for streaming on Screambox later this year.
According to what was revealed by Variety, the story of the new Street Trash will be faithful to that of Jim Muro's cult hit but will be "a metaphor for something much bigger."
Screenwriter Ryan Kruger further added:
"Our reimagining of Street Trash is set in Cape Town, South Africa, where the widening gap between rich and poor has changed the world... I was a big fan of the original Street Trash when I was a kid, and I couldn't be more excited to introduce the new generation to what made the original a classic."
The cast of Street Trash consists of Sean Cameron Michael, Donna Cormack-Thomson, Joe Vaz, Lloyd Martinez Newkirk, Shuraigh Meyer, Gary Green, Warrick Grier, Andrew Roux, and Ryan Kruger.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Roy Frumkesì, Ryan Kruger and J. Michael Muro.
Plot of Street Trash (1987): New York City. The owner of a liquor store frequented by tramps and located in the infamous Bowery Street neighborhood offers for sale a super liquor called Viper. In reality, it is not a liquor but a dangerous substance used during the Vietnam War and which, when ingested, dissolves the organs and bodies of victims.
