Soulmate is the title of the first feature film by English director and actress Axelle Carolyn, who has previously directed three genre short films (L'ultimo saluto, Hooked, Il Ragazzo di Halloween). Audrey has recently lost her husband and decides to leave the city and retreat to the countryside to regain her balance. She goes to live in an isolated cottage, where, however, the idea of suicide becomes an obsession. Her dark thoughts are interrupted by the discovery of an entity living in the house. Instead of leaving, Audrey puts her fear aside and decides to stay. A strange and dangerous bond develops between the woman and the ghost, creating a connection between life and death.
Soulmate (Great Britain – 2013) was presented at the Etheria Film Festival in Los Angeles and is available on DVD. As with her previous works, also for Soulmate Axelle Carolyn wrote the screenplay. The cast includes Anna Walton, Tom Wisdom, Tanya Myers, Rebecca Kiser, and Nick Brimble.
