On April 16, 2019, the following will be released Simulakrum Lab II, the new album produced and composed by Paul Provost (aka. Simulakrum Lab). The tracks on the album are notched with prog rock influences and range from the dark atmospheres of 1970s sci-fi and horror films to nostalgic 80s-inspired synthwave atmospheres. The sounds are inspired by electronic music pioneers such as John Carpenter, Tangerine Dream, Goblin, and Giorgio Moroder. The analog sound of Prophet, Moog and Korg synthesizers prevails.
The musician Cody Carpenter, the son of the famous director and the equally well-known Adrienne Barbeau, appears as a guest on the project, playing synths and piano on four tracks of "Simulakrum Lab II" and bringing a vintage 80s video game feel.
The vocals, on the other hand, are by Canadian singer Dana Jean Phoenix, well-known in the synthwave scene.
Well-known San Remo musician and collector Paolo Prevosto boasts collaborations with Claudio Simonetti and Fabio Pignatelli of Goblin on the album Simulakrum Lab, published in 2013.
He also made two remixes for vinyls released on the anniversaries of the films Demons by Lamberto Bava and Opera by Dario Argento. It deals with "Killing" from the soundtrack of "Demons" e "Confusion" from the soundtrack of "Opera“.
Paolo Prevosto is also editor of the magazine FantascienzaItalia.com as well as a great fan of cinema and astronautics.
