After the first pictures of Opera Mortem (UK - 1973), we present an excerpt from the clip screened at the Sadique Master courtesy of Giovanni Mele, the Italian collector responsible for the discovery and restoration of this satanic horror film that until recently had been hidden from the world for four decades.
An aura of mystery surrounds this film produced and directed by the mad English painter David Fleas. Filmed over ten years, this cursed horror film had only one screening back in 1973 at Nottingham's Odeon Film Theatre. Recently, however, a five-minute clip was screened at the Sadique Master 2019 zeroing in and upsetting the audience present at the French festival.
The rights of Opera Mortem were only acquired in 2015 by Italian collector Giovanni Mele through David Fleas' son. Now digitally remastered and restored in 2K, Opera Mortem is ready to be released and shown to the world. To make up for the degradation of the original master and the now unrecoverable video material, new footage was added to the film at the rate of about 10%.
Opera Mortem features content banned for minors due to the presence of gore and explicit pornography to which are added crude images and elegant literary quotes with references to suicide.
Opera Mortem in fact, it has been presented as a surrealist/dadaist extreme film that interweaves the death visions of a suicidal girl with those of a necrophilic serial killer.
The cast of the film includes Amber Toad and Daniel Flat.
